authorPOINT Lite - Free PowerPoint to Flash Converter

If you find that your students are having trouble with the Power Point presentations you upload for them, you might want to consider converting those presentations to Flash. There are lots of ways to do this, of course. One good, free program that will do this for Windows users is authorPOINT Lite. It is one of the few converters that preserves your animations and it "just works."

Give it a try and see what you think.

Easily install Moodle on your home computer

Do you need a development site? You know, an installation where you can tinker with new themes, experiment with modules, etc? If so, you might want to take a look at the Bitnami Moodle Stack. This is the easiest, fastest way I know to install Moodle on your home computer.

If you want your own Moodle playground, I recommend that you give Bitnami a shot.

Moodle and Paypal

Want to charge your Moodle students? If so, you might want to investigate the Paypal enrollment plugin - http://docs.moodle.org/en/Paypal. It should work right "out of the box" for you.

Well, "should" is a big word, of course. Here's an interesting blog entry about that.

If you hit a snag, you may want to spend a little time in the enrollment plugins forum at moodle.org.

The dialogue module is not dead yet

Do you remember the dialogue module? It made a private, one-on-one conversation between easy and simple. It was quite popular at my school.

Like many modules, though, it suffered from neglect and it seemed that it was going to go away forever.

But the dialogue module is not dead yet! Look here -
